History


1958


The story of Metsä-Weljet started when Esko Ihalainen began carrying out forestry work at the age of 15 with the help of a saw and a horse.

1964


Esko and his brother Ismo acquired their first tractor, a Nuffield 3, to run a VK 10 decorticator.

1966


A second decorticator, a VK-16, was purchased, which was harnessed with a Leyland tractor in 1969.  Summers were for decorticating and winters for forestry work.

1971


On October 13, the first BM Volvo 868 Forestry Tractor was acquired.

1978


Another forwarder was acquired, a 909 Lokomo.

1986


1986

Kockums 84-31 switched to Lokomo 909 turbos.

1990


1990

From 1978 to 1994, there were two forwarders at all times.

The first harvester, a Ponsse Ergo HS15E. Metsä-Weljet was established. The form of the company became a KG, involving brothers Antti and Mikko Ihalainen.

The Ponsse HS16 was replaced with a new Ergo.

A Ponsse Ergo yr. 2004 and a new John Deere 1110D. 3 harvesting chains

A new Hitachi 210 excavator.

Ponsse Ergo yr. 2008, Wisent yr. 2005 and a new Buffalo. 4 harvesting chains

The John Deere 1110D combusted and was replaced by a new Ponsse Buffalo.

Esko, Ismo, Antti and Mikko Ihalainen celebrate Metsä-Weljö's 20th anniversary.

A new Scania transfer truck arrived at the beginning of the year, as well as a new Ponsse Scorpion King harvester in the autumn.
